Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students competed in our Book Battles yesterday, and they did an amazing job! We are so proud of all the teams for their hard work, teamwork, and knowledge of the books. Everyone gave it their best and showed great sportsmanship throughout the competition.
We had 68 total teams: 26 3rd grade teams, 24 4th grade teams, and 18 5th grade teams!
Congratulations to the teams that will be moving on to compete in the Book Battles Championship this tomorrow! We can’t wait to see how the final round unfolds.

Everybody Reads: Tales on the Trails week 1 update.
Students have been reading, reading, reading in the hallways of JHE. We have been able to add 5,551 pom poms to our covered wagons in the library. The number continues to grow each day! Continue reading and tracking those books and time!

104 played a new card game purchased with Fun Run money. It is like UNO but they are practicing reading words at a variety of levels .

For our PBIS celebration this month, JHE students played Virtual Bingo as a class. Mr. DeGraff called out the numbers and Mr. Conner handed out prizes for classes.

After many weeks of preparation, our 2nd and 3rd grade students completed three performances of "Pajama Party!"

Finally, thanks to the second and third grade teachers for their flexibility of schedules through the weeks.

Today we held our 5th-grade flag ceremony. Congratulations to this year's winner, Sophie Hayzlett!
Sophie's flag is the 35th flag designed by a 5th-grade student and hung at JHE. Her flag represents this year's school theme: Leave it Better.
Congrats to the finalists: Jorja Appel, Savannah Vanderloo, Ella Beck, Taige Larson, Cooper Henglefelt, and Callie Cosand.

The Science Fair kickoff last Friday was so much fun! Thanks to the SDSU science department for putting on a great presentation that engaged our students!

Friday JHE students enjoyed their PBIS celebration: "Sip and Sketch." Students have done an excellent job demonstrating HERO values at school!
