Today we held our 5th-grade flag ceremony. Congratulations to this year's winner, Sophie Hayzlett!
Sophie's flag is the 35th flag designed by a 5th-grade student and hung at JHE. Her flag represents this year's school theme: Leave it Better.
Congrats to the finalists: Jorja Appel, Savannah Vanderloo, Ella Beck, Taige Larson, Cooper Henglefelt, and Callie Cosand.
Thanks to Sam Levisay for encouraging and inspiring all students that entered their ideas.
Thanks to our 5th grade flag PTO representative, Krista Larson, for working hard behind the scenes to make this event happen.

Friday, January 23, 2026, will be a Remote Learning Day in the Sioux Falls School District!
iPads and Chromebooks were sent home with each student earlier today. We will not have in-person learning in the schools, but students are expected to connect to their Canvas account from home for assignments and learning resources. They have practiced this at school and know what is expected of them.
Additional information for Students and Families can be found here: https://app.smore.com/n/wgz62
