This past week, it was wonderful to see classrooms continue to build a sense of community and for students to become more comfortable with routines. On Tuesday, grade levels rotated to three different areas to review expectations for the bathroom/hallways, lunchroom, and playground. Taking intentional time to teach these expectations early helps students to be successful throughout the year!
There were some major construction projects at JHE over the summer. K01 and K02 were completely remodeled. The library was also remodeled and a library office area was added to the southeast corner. These changes have positively enhanced the learning spaces for students!
The John Harris Elementary staff are grateful to our PTO for providing a beverage prepared by Rainy Day Coffee Company! We are excited for another day of learning with students tomorrow!
The days leading up the first day of school are fast paced and action packed. Teachers have been busy preparing their learning spaces for students. It was wonderful seeing our JHE families in our building again at last night's open house! Thanks to Southern Hills Church, our community partner, for providing families with hot dogs, chips, cookies, and water! We look forward to seeing students and families on our playground for our flag raising ceremony tradition at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow! It's going to be a great school year!

Yesterday, the classroom doors closed for the 23-24 school year, but the memories of the year will remain open in the minds of students, staff, and families. Thank you for making it memorable!
Thanks JHE PTO for celebrating and providing food for staff appreciation week earlier this month. Also, our 5th graders absolutely loved their glow party to close out their final year of elementary school. Thanks PTO!

Kindergarteners have been busy the last few days of school: fire safety presentation, Ronning library summer reading program, and Hurricane Hero Day with a visit from Officer Estep!
Nurse Val is a true John Harris Hero! She works diligently behind the scenes to provide care to students and staff. We are so grateful for her!
May 6th through May 10th is Teacher Appreciation Week. The JHE PTO does an amazing job of recognizing and showing appreciation of all staff here at John Harris. It is motivating for our staff to have the support of our John Harris families!
