March 11-15 is the final week of winter sports. All teams and players developed and learned more about working together as a team! Thank you to all of our Panther coaches for successful seasons! The sign-up for 7th and 8th grade Track and Field, as well as 8th grade soccer has begun. Practices will begin on March 18th. Please see Mr. Clarke for questions or more information.

We continue to congratulate the Orchestra groups at Patrick Henry! This past week, 8th Grade Orchestra and Strings Attached both earned Division I ratings at the Festival of Orchestras in Brandon Valley. We are so proud of our young musicians!

The annual “Everybody Reads” citywide promotion started last Friday and runs through March 22. Students are encouraged to fill out a raindrop in the library for every book they finish. As a city, we are trying to read 300,000 books in just 3 weeks and for every 100,000 books read, a donation will be made to REACH Literacy to further promote reading in Sioux Falls!

Accelerated 7-1 and 7-2 ELA students created floats to represent scenes from novels that they read in class. Students enjoyed making each float and sharing about their books. Their book floats were on display in the library and others students were able to take a look. Thanks for sharing your creativity with PHMS!

Happy School Social Worker Appreciation Week to Allison! We want to recognize and thank her for her resourcefulness, creativity, and passion for helping our students and families in need. We are so appreciative of her dedication, the relationships she builds with our students and the many ways that she keeps Patrick Henry children and families safe.

PHMS Rise students enjoyed painting in Art this week!

Last year's TEDx Sioux Falls Youth event was a monumental start to lift up student voices and spark important conversations in the community, and this year's event hopes to build on that momentum! Get your tickets soon to hear directly from students about what's on their minds, and what they feel are "ideas worth sharing." It's always fun to see former PHMS students making an impact in their schools and community!

20 Patrick Henry students participated in All-State Band in Mitchell, SD. Fun Fact: This was the 25th year of the event and Patrick Henry is one of only 3 schools to have students involved for all 25 years!

Check out the Panther Athletic Schedule for March 4-8, 2024! It's fun to watch these athletes compete and perform after putting in the time and hard work. Spring Sports are right around the corner! If your child is in 7th or 8th grade and interested in Track or Soccer, make sure they sign up!

Last weekend, 90 of the top Middle School Orchestra performers gathered in Rapid City, SD for the 8th Annual SDMEA Middle School All State Orchestra event. They spent time rehearsing and concluded the weekend with a Grand Finale performance. We are proud of the 9 students who represented Patrick Henry!

The Patrick Henry Student Council loves to support inclusion! In addition to promoting Spread the Word to End the Word Day on March 6, students are encouraged to dress up each day next week and find ways to include everyone! The campaign Spread the Word, sponsored by Special Olympics and supported by Best Buddies, is aimed at showcasing the impact of inclusive language and actions so that the discrimination of people with intellectual disabilities can come to an end.

Congrats to the PHMS Math Counts Team!
